This winter saw a trip back to Berlin, possibly the coldest place on earth that I have ever been thus far. At -15 at night and -8 during the day, Berlin seemed a fairly inhospitable place. For all its charm and chic, Berlin could not fight the piecing cold, leaving the streets emptier than I have ever seen, and those that did brave the weather, scurrying along to the nearest cafe, of which there are plenty.

Classical music is nothing to cough at, it is often seen as a serious affair, with many dressing for the occasion. On Friday I went the Royal Festival Hall, London, to see Daniel Barenboim and the Berlin Staatskapelle. The performance of Beethoven’s First Piano Concerto was wonderfully sublime, whereas the critically successful performance of Schoenberg’s symphonic poem Pelleas und Melisande was not to my liking. A new week and a new picture, exciting times for us all. There are a few going up this week while I catch up but it’s all good. This was taken in a friends flat (who wrote this post) in Bristol on a warmer day than it is today. That’s me on the right if you care, or can’t be bothered to use google. No more to say on this other than surfing that weekend was awesome fun, despite being blinded by the rain.
Job titles as I have found and as meaningful as they are meaningless. They appear to give status but often don’t reflect the a persons true importance and value, yet many define themselves by this title that has been bestowed upon them by their pay masters. Is this wrong? I’ll let you come to your own opinion on this matter. I really want to tackle the injustice of the British title against an American one.
