Do Google care about you and me?

So we all love Google, right? We have some of the best free products we’ve ever had access to and they’re no doubt countless more to come… But before we all go off an celebrate the love of a brand, do we really understand what we are getting when we are ‘buying’ into the ‘free’ dream?

A minor update on the site today with the meebo bar being put across the site. I have been meaning to do this for ages and now that the site is about trying to be more socially orientated, whatever that means, I thought this would be a timely addition to the site.
I’ll post the results of the interactions with the bar as time moves on. I really do wonder what difference it will make to the user (your) experience and if anyone will even use it. It is on the …

Exciting times to see that there is a new significant WP update out, 2.9 design wise not a lot has changed, which is great as the usability of the worlds most popular CMS looks pretty cool as well. Although Zemanta plugin takes more of an 80s approach being fairly blocky.
The thing I’m most excited by is the built in image editor and better video embeds. Loads more detail on the official release notes. 500 tickets, 140 contributors, 1 big update. To all that make WordPress possible, the bloggers of …

There is so many interesting things online. This particular 12 minute video filmed at FOWA London of Gary Vaynerchuk (@garyvee) letting loose with reality is excellent. I wish I had more to add but seriously nobody says it better. Watch it!

It was a sad day when überBusy went down to a malware attack. No one is quite so sure what happened and why, all we know is someone put a trojan into the footer of the page. It wasn’t elegantly done and was picked up fairly quickly by google, and that was just the start.
From notifications from google, sent to my inbox that my site contained a virus. Must admit I was slightly upset at this point, even more so when twitter also let me know. Presumably this internet things …

I think sometimes I ask way too much of a computer, then other times I despair at fairly simple mistakes. This one comes in the form of incapitability of Microsoft Office 2007 with… well, Microsoft Office 2007. Allow me to explain. I was fortunate enough to have someone in the office that didn’t mind spending 20 minutes listing out my contacts on to a spreadsheet, which was collated from an array of business cards, collected over the past 3 months. This then was going to be imported into …

I’m ill and i’m tired. Since the blog has been down for a while I’m totally out of the swing of things. Usually buzzing with things to share at the moment I can’t seem to find my groove. Last week I was down at FOWA learning loads of things I didn’t understand, meeting people who had conversations that were way above my head. I like to think that doesn’t happen that often but actually in some kind of strange way, I really enjoyed it. It’s good to know that what …

Microsoft are reported to be pursuing the strategy of Apple and branding/controlling the environment in which they sell in, by opening up Microsoft flagship stores. Now while the internet is buzzing with this revelation, which comes after they hired Walmart sensation, David Porter, who no doubt was brought in to help mastermind this venture; I am left wondering what a branded store will do to Microsoft’s image.
Sure Apple stores with all their funk and minimalistic layout, which is carbon copied no matter which Apple store you are in …
