Today marks my 3rd twitter birthday and that on the same day the internet celebrates its 20th birthday, you just couldn’t make this up. To celebrate these simultaneous occasions I thought it would be good to turn a sad song into a happy one, I say turn, of course I’m not a musician so playing with the music is out. So all I can really do, is show you lots of the same version of the song known originally as Vége a világnak (End of the world), then with lyrics added it became Szomorú vasárnap (Sad Sunday) but now is ...

Classical music is nothing to cough at, it is often seen as a serious affair, with many dressing for the occasion. On Friday I went the Royal Festival Hall, London, to see Daniel Barenboim and the Berlin Staatskapelle. The performance of Beethoven’s First Piano Concerto was wonderfully sublime, whereas the critically successful performance of Schoenberg’s symphonic poem Pelleas und Melisande was not to my liking. But this post isn’t about reviewing the music, as I am no expert in this field and review by ‘professionals’ can be seen in related links below. What I wanted to point out is something ...

On Monday I saw múm at the Tabernacle and all I can say is their new album (which I’m yet to find the name of)… sounds totally awesome. It’s funny how music can completely change your mood, before walking into the concert, I was tried, stressed and slightly pissed off at the days events but I came out of this gig a new person, refreshed, happy and reinvigourated. So this is me publicly thanking múm and the half sister, who were supporting, for a wondrously enjoyable evening, may there be many more. I also bought my first vinyl for a ...

As much as I love music, I seldom has reason to write about it, unless of course it is a piece of music that rocks into my life for some reason and becomes an intrinsic part of a moment. Balmorhea and Peter Broderick each in their own right play such pieces of music, I just can’t stop listening to it’s supple calming tones. This is a beautiful song by Balmorhea, I’ll doubt that you’ll be able to find as chilled classical music anywhere else. This is a duet of Peter Broderick and Balmorhea. I find this song remarkable, no matter ...
