Today marks my 3rd twitter birthday and that on the same day the internet celebrates its 20th birthday, you just couldn’t make this up.

To celebrate these simultaneous occasions I thought it would be good to turn a sad song into a happy one, I say turn, of course I’m not a musician so playing with the music is out. So all I can really do, is show you lots of the same version of the song known originally as Vége a világnak (End of the world), then with lyrics added it became Szomorú vasárnap (Sad Sunday) but now is more widely known as Gloomy Sunday, as well as also adopting the rather tragic name of the suicide song.

Personally, I think there is an innate beauty to the song which has a depressing background if you read about its origins but for some reason its minor tones for me at least russel a number of good memories about the first time I heard it.

I hope you enjoy the various versions and read more about the song on wikipedia.

There are many more splendid versions out there. I still think it is a happy song.
