Darts, Snooker, Curling are NOT sports

Watching the Winter Olympics has been a thrill a second and it is by far superior entertainment than the Summer Olympics. I admire each and everyone one of the athletes that have taken part in the challenging downhills, the enduring cross country, the elegance and brutality of skating on ice and so much more.

Maybe because I am watching on the BBC, who have progressively lost all real commercial and entertaining sporting events to Sky, do I have some skepticism about the sports they do bring. The Winter Olympics on the whole has been well covered but I have little understanding of the coverage whenever I turn to the blue button of the constant presence of LIVE Curling.

Curling, much like darts or snooker is NOT a sport, it does not take a great athlete at the pinnacle of fitness, strength and mental agility to be a champion of these games. It does for sure take some skill, plenty of training, a strategy and a little bit of luck to win, but much in the same way as it does to win at chess or monopoly, all of which are GAMES.

Chess or darts isn’t in the Summer Olympics so why oh why is curling in the Winter Olympics?
