A Royal Business vs A Presidential Corporation

Job titles as I have found and as meaningful as they are meaningless. They appear to give status but often don’t reflect the a persons true importance and value, yet many define themselves by this title that has been bestowed upon them by their pay masters. Is this wrong? I’ll let you come to your own opinion on this matter. I really want to tackle the injustice of the British title against an American one.

The Americans with a Federal Republic kept to convention when they were dreaming up job titles for people. A wondrous country where many can become Vice Presidents, a few can hit the high echelons of Presidency (at least in a company), and more can become a Chief.

The British ruled by a Monarch (with once and Empire) with a wealth of history in titles, has for business one the whole been unimaginative and generated names that may make sense, like Managing Director – who supposedly Directs the company and the Managers underneath them. Not all that exciting I feel, a Manager, just sounds dull.

My suggestion is that here in the UK and in other places in Europe we mix it up a little and make job titles sound more traditional yet ‘cooler’. So here goes:

Chairman – Emperor or Empress
Managing Director / CEO – King or Queen
Director’s – Archduke or Archduchess
Members of the Board – Grand Duke or Grand Duchess
Senior Manager – Duke or Duchess
Managers – Prince or Princesses
Infante or Infanta
Marquess or Marchioness
Margrave or Margravine
Count or Countess
Earl
Viscount or Viscountess
Baron or Baroness
Baronet or Baronetess
Knight or Dame
Lord or Lady
Esquire
Gentleman or Lady
Jester

As you might be able to see there is a load of positions to fill and at least a good enough chain of command for it to be all clear about the importance of someone. A Knight of Operations clearly would be one of an army, reporting to the Prince, who would then be guided by the Archduke, and as we all know will seek to please the King.

So I conclude if you can be a President in America, then surely you can be a King in Britain. I am the Emperor of überBusy and I salute you.
