Slowly the year is coming to an end and we end a decade with so much more than this post. I hope you all had an awesome Christmas and are now ready to make those new years resolutions to kick start 2010 in style.
Time for me to share a few treats of 2009 in the world of literature, music, films and art.
Music first and this really was an exceptionally good year for live music. Though I have been airing on the side of electronic infused classical with the likes of Max Richter, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Múm, Peter Broderick, Amiina and the Notwist. All of this in no particular order, just to say that they were all exceptional and all hugely recommended.
Max Richter’s greatest song, which is part of the album, “The Blue Notebook”
Books
2009 has indeed been a nice year for books, I have read way less than I would have liked as is usually the case, I hope that 2010 I will be more leisured into reading, especially non factual based books. This year Down and Out in Paris and London by George Orwell remains my book of the year. Albeit with Catch 22 by Joseph Heller coming a close second.
Films
I can’t say that any film particularly stands out as an all time classic, then again I have spent much of the year trolling through blockbuster after blockbuster and that seldom promotes films that are life changing. I’m going to throw the award to “In the Loop” for it is political satire at its finest, a most clever film to which I hope politics is really like. “Inglorious Bastards” did have the finest acting moments of 2009 with Christoph Waltz.
Funny YouTube Videos
OK that could go on and on… Anyway, I think I’m missing a separate Art section, but well, 2009 is nearly at an end and I can’t think of any good art that I have seen this year, so will leave it blank. Only to summarise this year as a fantastic year that leaves the naughties behind with a more understanding me. The one thing that I will take into the next decade with me, is that I have more to learn, more to ponder and more to achieve.
I leave you with this, even the smallest stone can make waves. Use your voice to herald change and by you actions show others the way. Be good to one another.
