Obviously this isn’t a popular title, that’s why I started with it. Inciting a reaction. Anyway, despite how stupid it may sound, think of the socital benefits. Many of us, myself included rely on a certain amount of underground transportation and clearly getting to places quickly the tube can help. On the flip side what a terrible journey and criminal price that is charged for it.
The amount of money in fork out on a daily basis to ride these filth machines makes me want to cry. Not only are people packed inhumanly into the wagons but they are also insulted by the phase, xyz line is delayed while abc is running a good service. Never in my experience have I had a good service. Even if they consider it good service, it certainly isn’t value for money.
At least the drivers see this… Even they hate riding the tube. So a day off for them I guess is like a holiday from the nightmare that commuter ensue. For us affected people, it allows us to experience a slightly less shit method of travel, even if it does take longer.
Not only was I less stressed when I got to work as normal, despite the hour walk, I was also less tired. This feeling stayed with me throughout the day. I also explored parts of London, I usually wizz by. That has to be a good thing.
So in summation, I was happier, less tired, more travelled and a little fitter, thanks to the tube strike plaguing London today. The only thing that really pissed me off is the lost money on my travel card, which I didn’t use and of course being safe in the knowledge, if drivers get their way, the price of that ticket will be hiked up again.
London tube you suck and the only thing management should be thinking is how to automate the service. At least then the drivers would only have to concern themselves with getting a job that they don’t hate and where they don’t abandon innocent commuters.
