The Midnight Stroll And A Boat Party

On Saturday after an amazing night at the Amiina concert I was lucky enough to be invited to a boat party on the river Themes. Now I must admit usually I wouldn’t written too much about the party if I hadn’t been asked by 3 separate people on my twitter to post something. So here goes on a brief update. Ruk’s sister’s 21st Birthday bash was a all Black and Gold affair in the most formal of styles. Now I don’t have much gold, to be honest I think unless you are Mr.T then it looks a little tacky, and apparently Ruk’s little sis thought this as well because when I saw here she was wearing pink and silver! Unbelievable! If I had known that I would have donned something with a splash of colour. In typical style Babac (co-author of WebMarketr) and best mate Nav flouted the rules, by turning up in a ghetto-formal mix up.

The boat took us delicately up and down the River, showing us some pretty awesome sights. Love seeing London at night, makes it look even more like a sleepy city, with only the cool buildings lit up. Almost like it has been designed to show off the best bits while hiding the less than attractive features.

On the boat the usual debauchery ensued. From Ruk being so drunk he can’t remember too much about it, to me dancing like an idiot and Babac… well just being Babac. I’m pretty sure where ever Babs is, the entourage around him end up being drunk and foolish. I was only saved by the fact that Emma was around to protect me from the embarrassing moments… I say that, actually from the pictures, it just looks like she is pointing and laughing at me! Rude! – so for that I would like to remind everyone, Emma was kind enough to smash Ruk’s Vodka XYZ with her bottle of Corona. Unbelievable!

Anyway the boat party came to an end and we docked at South Bank, where there was some kind of Rav kicking off. Wasn’t my kind of music and look to a few too many people as high as a kite. So decided to walk with Emma, Nav and Babac along the low tide Themes. A little less drunk, and I probably wouldn’t have done this in a suit (which now needs dry cleaning). On our travels we happened on a small group drinking beer and listening to cool Burial type music. They told us to,

watch out for the dead dog!

I didn’t see this dog they spoke of and I’m pretty pleased I didn’t. Back to the walk, after throwing stones into the Themes and a few pictures, which amounted to almost nothing, we saw on the shore above us, that there were a few people walking fast in the opposite direction. Nav found it his duty to heckle them with sayings amongst other things as

try walking down here!

We made it up to where this continuous stream of walkers where united in their quest to all walk in the same direction. All ready geared up Nav and Babac, were now on top form in supporting these girls at every step. Between the high fives, claps and the cheering; Nav starting reeling out his one liners, which kept me laughing for at least an hour solid.

Well done Pam, you’re doing really well!

The girls and few guys where raising money and awareness for breast cancer, walking 26 miles, from midnight onwards. Called aptly the ‘midnight stroll‘. I’m pleased that we sat just before Waterloo bridge for 2 hours and cheered these girls, everyone of them seemed wonderful and extremely happy and even appreciative of our supportive comments.

Love the flashing lights, they are showing me the money area

Not to mention the rather lurid,

you’re really raising my awareness

This went on for quite some time, with the 1000s of girls running past, the jokes never tired. We were at the 7 mile mark of a 26 mile walk, or as we put it,

you’ve broken the 20 mile mark… only 19 miles left.

At least we offered taxi rides, a gin and tonic at the finish line and our full support at 10 miles from the end. After clapping 2 hours and seeing a constant flood of semi naked women running around. We decided to call it a night, there girls looked determined and there was enough of there to invade continent. I hope that raised a whole load of money. Please donate or find out more here.

That was the Midnight Stroll and a Boat Party. Hope you enjoyed!
