returning back from a glorious weekend away in Berlin, I have set my mind to achieve a few things in the next months. One being the acquisition of a new camera. This was the first trip in a long time that I didn’t have my trusty camera on me, after thieves stole it from the confides of my house, and I must admit there were times when I missed it, like you would miss your phone had you left home without it. So today I have been surfing the web to look for something that would replace my Nikon 8700 and have found it quite a challenge. Digital SLR have come down massively in price from a 3-4 years ago and compact cameras have improved vastly, which leaves me with toss up between the two.

I really would love to have an SLR, just for the fact that any idiot can take a wicked picture with them, and they versatility they lend themselves to is vast. They only thing that rest in the back of my mind is that they are not compact enough to have in your pocket all the time. That was the problem with the 8700, while I loved it in many ways, I hated it in others. Taking the camera out always seemed like a mission in itself, let alone having to unpack it to take a photo, by which time you probably missed the moment. I’m hoping that switching to a compact camera might resolve this apathy, though I know that it won’t fulfill the yearning of a DSLR.

Hmm, I’m still confused as to what I want. Perhaps the internet can’t help me here and I have to go to a shop to make a final decision.
