the day after Christmas…

an always slightly disappointing affair in my eyes. I think it boils down to a bunch of random films coming on the TV and the realisation that even though Christmas is the most commericalised celebration of the year, even once it is done and over with then month unadulterated spending occurs. The sales are an extension of the strategy of money making, I’ll be the first to admit that at some point in the next week I’ll be out there spending a stupid amount on clothes I pretend I need, but it does stop me feeling like present buying and all of that was done for nothing, or at least at over hyped prices. Whatever, happened to good value all the time?

Already, it is being forecasted that the sales won’t help the economy and we’ll see more high street names go down the pan. I wonder if this means that when this downturn is all over if we have an even more harmonized high street, or will the small boys win out and we’ll see things mixed up. Wouldn’t it be nice if the latter is true?
